Biography[]
Archibald "Archie" Whitman was farmer in rural Illinois and father to Don Draper and Adam Whitman. He was poor, resorting to offering his shoes to Evangeline, a 22-year-old prostitute, who died giving birth to his son Dick.
When Don was 10, Archibald was drunk and was kicked in the face by a horse and died which Dick witnessed. ("Shut the Door. Have a Seat") Abigail Whitman, his wife at the time, was pregnant, and "took up" with a new man following Archibald's death, "Uncle Mac". ("Long Weekend") ("The Hobo Code")
Don tells his son Bobby Draper his own father's favorite food was ham and a candy that tasted like violets.("Three Sundays")
