Here Robert tells Lane that he has come to "bring Lane home" back to England since Rebecca, Lanes wife has a particular disdain for New York. Lane refuses but proposes he and his father should "dine" together that evening, which Robert accepts.

After Don prompts Harry for Sally's tickets for the Beatles, Lane asks Don to join him and Robert for dinner tonight, hesitant Don accepts. The scene then cuts to The Playboy Club, here Don, Robert and Lane have drinks. Throughout drinks Robert remains distasteful of Lane and the setting. It is revealed that Lane has been having an affair with Toni, an African-American bunny.
The next day Betty receives a knock on the door, on the other side it is the Department of Defense. Inviting them in, they explain to Betty that the purpose of their visit is to ask Betty routine questions about Don's background, due to the fact he has requested a security clearance on the back of doing business with the government. They ask Betty questions such as; how long were they married? Is Donald Draper a man of integrity? Is there any reason Don may not be who he says he is? To which Betty answers all the questions as if Don has nothing to hide, withholding her nervous. She then calls Don to tell him about the ordeal. It is then revealed that Megan had already filled out a government document which Don had already signed two weeks ago, in which the form has three lies about his background forwarded from his employment records. He refers them to a clinic in Morris Town. Joan comforts the woman, mistaking Joan's concern she assumes Joan has a daughter who is going through the same thing she is, not realizing Joan is the pregnant one. Out of consideration for the mother, Joan lies saying she has a 15 year old daughter.
At dinner with Lee Garner, Jr - Roger gets threatening news that Lucky Strike have decided to withdraw all their business from SCDP, he explains that since Lee Garner, Sr. had passed the Board of American Tobacco "went over his head" to consolidate all business at BBDO. Outraged Roger pleads with Lee to give him a least 30 days to at least try and keep him as a client, to which Lee responds to giving him an empty promise.
Faye drops by Don's office, there she notices Don has a fever - she the offers to take him home. Once at home, Don experiences a panic attack after he mistakes two men for the government workers. Faye helps him calm down. Fraught with concern, Faye demands to know why Don has been on edge, Don reveals to Faye that he is deserter and is at risk of being flagged.
Lane attempts once again to try and introduce Robert into his new life in Manhattan, arranging a formal dinner between himself, his father and Toni. Telling Toni he cannot attend due to the fact he is flying back to London the next day, Robert tells Toni to go without him, pretending he doesn't want to compromise Toni and Lane's evening. He orders Lane to allow Toni to go ahead, while alone Robert asks one more time for Lane to go back to London to which Lane refuses again. Robert then strikes Lane across the head with his cane, and then stands on his arm eventually forcing Lane to say "yes" to coming home, to sort his family out. He tells Lane that he cannot live in between infidelity and fidelity, Robert eventually leaves leaving Lane wounded.
The next morning Pete stops by Don apartment revealing he is in the clear, but as a result of Don's inability to live in the open they will have to terminate their business with NAA.
Roger follows up with Joan asking her whether she should be at work, during her fragile state - assuming she went through with the abortion. Joan assures Roger she is OK and that life goes on. He looks at her and tells her she is beautiful.
During a partners meeting, Roger explodes at Pete for losing the NAA account, and Lane tells the partners he will be leaving for London for a month and that Joan will be filling in as Financial Chief.
