Early life[]
Pauline had a somewhat dysfunctional childhood, having been raised by an abusive father and taught negative world values.
Season Four[]
Pauline does not approve of her son's new wife, Betty Hofstadt, who makes a bad impression at Thanksgiving dinner when she tries to force Sally to eat the food that was being served. ("Public Relations")
Season Five[]
She watches over Sally for an extended amount of time while Henry and Betty are away, and enforces a strict demeanor upon Sally. She attempts to influence her with what she was taught from her childhood.
