Early life[]

Rachel was born sometime in 1931 in New York City to department store owner Abraham Menken and an unnamed mother who died giving birth to her. She had an older sister named Barbara and visited the rooftop of her father's department store every day as a child to pet the dogs over there. As an adult, she inherited Menken's Department Store and became co-partners with her father.

Season 1[]

Rachel became romantically involved with Don Draper.

She came to Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency to try to get new ideas to advertise her department store.

Pete Campbell blackmails Don, who then is propelled to suggest to Rachel to run away together to Los Angeles. Due to his marriage and children, she realizes that he just wants to run away, and that Rachel was just a good opportunity. ("Nixon vs. Kennedy")

Season 2[]

While at a restaurant in 1962, Rachel runs into Don and Bobbie Barrett. ("The New Girl")

She reveals that she has gotten married to a man named Tilden Katz.

Season 7[]

She is revealed to have passed away due to leukemia in April of 1970, much to Don's surprise after having dreamt of her the night before he received the news. ("Severance")

Trivia[]

  • Don gives his name as "Tilden Katz" to a bouncer outside an underground club Roger is trying to get them into. ("Six Month Leave")
